Overview

Walk across America’s highest bridge, plank by plank.

Every visit starts with a walk across America’s Highest Bridge. The deck stretches 1,260 feet from rim to rim and hangs 956 feet above the Arkansas River, with 1,257 wooden planks underfoot and views straight down into the gorge.

Built in 1929 by a crew of about 80, it held the record for the world’s highest bridge until 2001. In summer, flags from all 50 states line the walkway, and rides, dining and shows wait at both ends.
